Wellness Foods
Pre-ordered healthy meals available once a week for pick-up for those in need of foods to help combat illness and help with recovery. All meal selections are packaged in glass containers ready for reheating in the oven. Menus are gluten-free, dairy-free and based on seasonal availability of the freshest organic ingredients. Menus change weekly on Fridays and are updated HERE or on the printed menu available from the Kitchen. Complete the order form in person or call, fax and even text your order by Sunday midnight. Pick-up is Wednesday between 9am-6pm. Pick up at SLO Co-Op off Broad on Francis St. in San Luis Obispo also available. Click here to view a Menu.
Transitional Foods
For those who are going through challenging treatments and suffer from mouth sores, throat tenderness or difficulty digesting foods - we’ve created “Transitional Foods” – foods that we use less citrus, spices, garlic and onion; where vegetables have been cooked down so they are soft to chew and assimilate. Menu changes each week.
Healing Foods
Designed to be comforting, delicious as well as nutritious for someone going through debilitating treatment and/or recovery. Healing Foods are offered at little or no charge to those facing a health crisis, lack the support system to have healthy foods prepared for them and/or are unable to afford these foods on their own (applicants must qualify). With well-nourished and nutrient-dense foods, one is more likely to have fewer side effects and treatment can be more effective.
Local teen volunteers are trained in basic culinary skills (knife, safety, sanitation and the use of whole foods) and assisted and supervised by a kitchen manager and adult volunteer as they learn how to prepare new recipes each week. In addition to skills development, they also fulfill important community service hours and enjoy the gift of giving back.
